Bake With The Kids: Delicious and Easy One Bowl Apple Cake Recipe
This recipe was a firm family favourite when I was a kid and was actually the first thing I learnt to cook. We just won’t talk about my first attempt to make scones (let’s just say misreading quantities ended in salty than normal scones)!
And with the school holidays underway what better way to keep the kids entertained for a good period with a tasty end result?
This recipe the kids can do pretty much unsupervised and if you need something for the lunchboxes when they do go back to school this makes delicious muffins too.
So, Bake With The Kids: Delicious and Easy One Bowl Apple Cake Recipe...let's go.
Apple Cake - Serves 6-8
This can be made gluten-free/dairy free, i’ll add in replacement quantities as well.
Ingredients
125grm butter-melted(1/2C olive oil works well here)
1 apple-grated(leave on peel)
1C brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/4C flour(3/4C gluten-free flour+1/2C brown rice flour)
1/2tsp baking powder
1tsp baking soda
1 1/2tsp cinnamon
1 apple-peeled/thinly slice to top cake(optional)
2Tbsp raw sugar or brown sugar
Method
Preheat Oven to 180’C. Grease and line 26cm springform tin.
Mix the first 4 ingredients together then fold in the dry ingredients.
Pour into prepared tin, smooth off the top, spread out the sliced apple if using and sprinkle over sugar.
Place into oven and bake for approximately 45mins or till a skewer comes out clean.
Remove from oven and cool in tin.
If you find it browns before cooking properly cover with foil but keep in mind once doing this it will speed up the cooking so go back and check after 10mins, it may surprise you.
This cake will store well in a sealed container for up to 5 days.
The more you know, the more you can create. There’s no end to imagination in the kitchen.
